Title living in the past Watercolor paint of strathmore watercolor paper
art by jen

The title to the piece above is ,Living in the past, The proceeding pieces from my collection of landscape paintings both acrylic and watercolor representation of early work up to present . With the exception of the door.

The first painting is of a wire bridge in Maine, I used one of my photographs of that bridge for a reference.

This last piece was one of the fastest painting I had ever done. It wasn’t on purpose ,this is actually a piece of the cover sheet on a watercolor pad. I was using it to scrap a paint knife on to clean it as I painted this painting of a door.

Which is acrylic on canvas , since I spent a good 30+ years painting houses I thought what a novel idea to paint a door on canvas. I was using the paint knife to make sharp edges and the crack in the “wood” so it would look realistic. If you look closely at the two paintings you can see they are of the same color. I noticed that my scrapping on the cover of that pad looked like a mountain so I cut that part off and painted a dark green on the bottom ,hacking some trees on it and quickly threw it in a frame. I handed it to Rich and said here you go my fastest painting. He didn’t believe me ,he thought it came with the little frame. True story

This painting use to hang on the wall inside next to my exterior door. When someone came by to visit I would give them a tour of my artwork then I ask ,” Did I show you the door?” just to be a wise guy,, because no one would notice it walking in, you only could see where it was hanging if you were walking out.
